You Want to Bring a Horse
~Clinic on the Trails ~
Take your horsemanship skills to a whole new level. Participate in either 2 or all 3 days while experiencing this clinic on the trail in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota! Join Farrah Green and Michelle Manshardt for this fun adventure!
Note: This is a clinic on the trails, not a trail ride. Our goal is to play with the same topics that we normally play in an arena setting. Often students are able to control their horse and accomplish amazing things in the arena, but when in an open area or trail environment, are often faced with challenges which may impede their horse's or their own confidence levels. This clinic will address putting the relationship first and build confidence through exposing your horse to the 7 games through:
Squeeze games through trees
riding in open fields
Passing others without wanting to race
Horses leaving (out of sight of other horses)
Feeling left behind
Horses approaching from behind
Scary silhouettes
Obstacles on the trail
Riding with dogs
Riding through cow herds
Riding different terrains (hills, narrow & wide trails)
- Day 1 is designed for level 1 & 2 participants - If you have never ridden your horse on a trail, have done minimal trail riding or have confidence issues riding outside of an arena, this is the day for you! This is a great introduction day for all levels.
- Day 2 is a review of day 1 and is designed for all levels. The above concepts will be addressed and played with on line and through freestyle riding.
- Day 3 is designed for levels 2-3-4 participants. If you are confident riding your horse at least at a walk or a trot outside of an arena, this is the day for you! We will take the above concepts to a new level.
- Chose all 3 days, or a combination of day 1 & 2 or day 2 & 3.
