Goals:  Develop a horse with all of the basic skills for any performance discipline and trail riding.  Rhythm in all gaits that are comfortable to ride without fear.  Select left and right leads at the canter.  Use the patterns for your horse's horsenality as a tool to build to bridleless riding.  Build a responsive partner with light communication and a rider with very good feel and timing.

In class, if there is a specific issue that you need help with, please let the instructors know – there might be someone else in the class with the same question!  We look forward to seeing you there!

The goal of this class is to introduce a large amount of the tasks in Level 3 Freestyle.  You may need more time to practice these tasks to actually make them passable for your Level 3 Freestyle Audition (depending on how much you practice outside of class).  Some specific tasks will be played with to a greater extent in other classes, such as trail riding and jumping.

The goal of this Playgroup is to acomplish the following with phase 1 or 2 by the end of this series:

  1. Canter with confidence and feel your leads!
  2. You have the basic correct techniques of indirect, direct, and supporting rein with your stick and the neck string.
  3. That you know how to use these rein positions to influence your horse's body parts.
