Liberty and Horse Behavior

Minimum Requirements:  Auditioned Level 1* or self assessed through Level 1.

Goals:  Understand the world through your horses point of view.  Put yourself inside the Prey/ Predator relationship - and be a better horseman.  Learn the secrets of the catching game, and how to position yourself in an arena/ round pen to cause your horse to do certain maneuvers. The instructors will address how to play with your horse at liberty from Level 1 through Level 4!

Here are some topics that may be covered in the five days.   In class, if there is a specific issue that you need help with, please let the instructor know – there might be someone else in the class with the same question!  We look forward to seeing you there!

• Ground Passenger lessons - deciphering the information
• Cause your horse to want to be with you
• Learn how to prove to your horse that you are a horse*man and not a predator
  
• Equalize the communication in every zone
  
• How to cause a change of direction at liberty
• How to cause a spin at liberty
• The basis of liberty flying lead changes
  

The goal of this class is to  introduce the concept of liberty and to take it to the next level (what ever level you might be).  You may need more time to practice these tasks to actually make them passable for your Level 3 or 4 Liberty Audition (depending on how much you practice outside of class).  At the end of the course,

*The minimum qualifications are put in place to assure that you are in the class that would be the most benefit to you.  This also will help you set goals and be more of a leader for your horse!  You don’t have to have already officially passed with Parelli, just show the instructor (Farrah Green or Kristi Smith) your audition tape and we will let you know!
