Foundation Horsemanship Ground Skills

This class is focused on giving you the technique and horse reading ability to handle any horse safely on the ground and judge their character and mood for riding.  You will be able to evaluate the skill level of the horse with a few simple exercises.  If you have never ridden or handled horses before or you have had horses for years, but have have wondered how to start training your horse who has never been ridden from the ground, this is the class for you!  At the end of this 6 week class you will be able to:

• Ask the horse to move with feel (touching) or focus (a signal) all their body parts
• Clean hooves, groom all body parts with the horse standing relaxed and without being tied.
• Saddle your horse (whether they have ever been saddled or not)
• Ask your horse to be mounted (from the ground or a mounting block
• Circle the horse at walk, trot and canter
• Ask the horse to side pass from the ground
• Send the horse over a jump, tarp, through a scary object, or into a trailer
